I don’t think a degree would make you a designer either. For instance I used to be interested in design even before going to uni and did a summer job even before that. You can always find a way to learn there are tons of articles out there. Going to uni or a course like that should just boost your knowledge and once done with it, you can go for a junior role so you can learn the craft. A lot of people who finish these courses without any previous experience or interest then apply for senior or lead roles and people do hire them. That’s the main problem I think.
